My schedule is pretty busy because of all the different things I am involved in. Watching TV isn’t a huge part of my life because of the tight schedule I carry, but when I do get to relax in front of the tube, I put on HGTV. My favorite shows are “Property Brothers” and “House Hunters,” but last night I watched a special on the famous “Spelling Manor.” 
This amazing house was built from the ground up by Aaron & Candy Spelling in the 80’s. The features in this house are incredible and the location is perfect. Although, it was exciting and fun to see the amazing architecture, landscape, and decor that the Manor offered, I couldn’t help but to recognize that it wasn’t the extremely large theater size screen, nor was it the gift wrapping room that Candy Spelling was emotional about attached to. It was all the moments she spent there with her family, friends, and special guests that pulled and tugged at her heart.
So many times we get caught up in the things we have or want, and we forget what is most important. If I think back to when I was a child, I don’t remember the gifts I received at Christmas or what I didn’t get. I think about the time my father recorded himself on a cassette tape as Santa Claus and blasted it on the living room speakers as I slept next to him. Santa Claus said “Ho ho ho Merry Christmas Robert.” I was so excited and I told all my friends that Santa was real. That moment was embedded into my brain.
Time and our memories are the most valuable things we own. You can try and replicate a moment, but the truth of the matter is, once it has come and gone, we no longer can get it back. Candy Spelling cried in the special, but she wasn’t emotional about selling the actual house or the things in it. She was thinking about all the special moments she experienced with her family and all the special moments in her future that will no longer take place in that home. Cherish one another and the valuable times we have together. Never take anyone or any one moment for granted.
“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” Proverbs 27:1 Basically, you do not know if tomorrow will come, so why take the chance of losing a moment today. I will leave you with 3 words: Live, Laugh, LOVE. Have a blessed weekend!
