Follow Your Heart…

I think I have a fourth motto to add to my life. The first three are: Stay Positive, Never Stop Improving, and Respect The Journey. No I have to add “Follow Your Heart.” I’m in the middle of reading a book called “What would Steve Jobs do?” and it isn’t necessarily a biography about Mr. Jobs’ life, but more based on his way of running his business. Although they do tell you about his life and his story, that is just the foundation for why he did what he did in business.

Anyways, in this book there is a passage from Steve Jobs’ 2005 commencement speech at Stanford University. He said:

“Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything—all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure—these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

With that said I encourage everyone today, if you are not doing it already, to follow your heart. Life is too short and we are not guaranteed a another second. We have to take advantage of every breath, and Oprah said it best (Oprah- Follow your heart). Some people may not understand why you do what you do, and honestly you can’t blame them, because it’s not their destiny, it’s yours. Sky is the limit for us all! Stay Positive, Never Stop Improving, Follow Your Heart, and Respect the Journey!

Praise Him…

It’s not an easy task to live a sinless life because we are sinful by nature, but fortunately Christ has mercy on us and died so that we can be forgiven. If that’s not a reason to praise Him, what is? Most people think they have to go to church and scream “praise God,” but honestly there are so many other ways to do it. We can praise him with our every day attitude, effort, or interactions. We can praise Him with our lives, our language, or even our parties. People will look at us from a distance and know there is something different about us. Nobody is perfect, so let’s stop hating on people when they make a mistake, and encourage one another when we fall short. Life is a long journey. Be encouraged & never stop improving! Praise Him!!

Pressing On…

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself YET to have achieved [success or the title Christian]. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 3:13-14

Things happen in life for a reason, whether they are on purpose or miraculous. Whether they are good or bad, life is a long journey. One thing I’ve tried to do is refrain from asking the question “WHY?” and I try to focus on what should I learn from this. There is always going to be up and downs in our lives, it’s up to us to make a positive out of every situation, even the ones that hurt. Stay positive, keep smiling, and never stop improving. Lastly, always Respect the Journey and press on towards your goals.

I Appreciate You…

There are people in this world that take life for granted. I can honestly say that I have been one to take life and the people around me for granted at times. Luckily, it doesn’t last long and I am quick to show my appreciation. I’m not talking about fake materialistic appreciation. I mean the kind of appreciation that cannot be touched or tasted or even bought, it’s simply just TIME. Our most valuable resource in life is our time. We cannot get a minute nor a second back once it’s passed. Neither is the next second or minute promised to any of us. So I say this to tell everyone that if God took me today, I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU!!

This post was inspired by a man that I grew up wanting to be like on the football field, a man that electrified a city by a simple strike in the air of his fist, a man that I shared a locker-room with in New England, and a man that I respected for his overwhelming hospitality to anyone he ever met. He was taken from this earth too soon, and seeing the pain his family is going through, only makes me cherish every moment I can spend with my family, hug them, laugh with them, or simply call family/friends and hear their voices on the other end. His family can’t do that anymore. So I encourage us all, including myself, to appreciate each other and not take our time on this earth for granted. I Love You All!!!

Thank you Juniior Seau for being a good example on how to treat the people that God brings in our lives, and for being an inspiration to us all. You’ve now “Graduated” to the heavens! May God bless your soul!

Call it a Lucky 2012…

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged. All I can say is, God has definitely blessed me so far in 2012. He has provided new opportunities, along with new people in my life that have put me in a position to succeed. I have come a long way from from being a walk on at SDSU, and being cut by four different NFL teams, to becoming an entrepreneur, DJ, model, and actor.

It is an amazing feeling when everything you work for and put your time into starts to come to fruition. Some people might say it’s luck and in my case I will agree. Since I believe that the definition of “Luck”is “when preparation meets opportunity.” I have prepared myself for whatever opportunity may come my way, and most importantly, God is providing the opportunity. I am not saying that I deserve these opportunities, but I will say I try my best to be ready for anything. It all started with my first national commercial (click hereto watch), followed by a couple modeling jobs, and a trip to the Grammy’s.

I just want to say a special thanks to all those people have prayed for me and supported me through the ups and downs over the years. This isn’t the end for me and I will never stop improving. I will always stay positive, and you already know I “Respect the Journey”!

Perception is Everything Vol. 2…

About a year or so ago, I was watching a special on the Audi R8, and I fell in love with it. The R8 is competing with some of the most well known sports cars on the market and I always said that I would never spend that kind of money on a car…BUT if I had the opportunity to get one or drive one, it would make my day. Yesterday was that day.

Now, let me break it down for you…this car is beautiful, sleek, fast, and most importantly built to land on it’s feet every time. During the making of the movie “Ironman,” they could not flip this car even with a machine built to flip cars. Then if we really break it down, my name is obviously Robert (which begins with the letter “R”) and my favorite number (which was also my high school football number) is #8. So it’s meant to be. Audi R8= Robert #8.

I made a video to promote the coming of the ArtistiCreation 2012 Collection and create a “Boss” perception, because perception is everything in this world. When you think positive, you get positive results. Although, I may never spend my hard earned money on something like this, I believe I will be in a position financially to do so. I’d rather do something positive for others instead. For now, it’s a symbol of hard work for me, and to others, a sign that I plan on doing great things in the future.
